Director
DENG Xiaonan is the director of the Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences and professor of Centre for Research on Ancient Chinese History, Peking University, and Vice President of the Association of Chinese Historians. Her research mainly focuses on Song history, ancient Chinese bureaucratic systems, and women's history in the Tang and Song Dynasties. She has given lectures and conducted collaborative researches at overseas universities including Harvard University, Yale University, Waseda University, Oxford University, and Institute of History and Philology, Academia Sinica. Her main publications include"Invoking Imperial Ancestors' Instruction in Early Northern Song Politics"; "Selected Papers of Historical Studies"; “Women in Turfan during the Sixth to Eighth Centuries: A Look at their Activities outside the Home",Journal of Asian Studies,Feb.1999;“Autorite Imperiale et Gouvernement dans la Chine medievale”,Annales: Histoire, Sciences socials, 59 Annee n3, mai-juin 2004 etc.
