Bo Chen, born in 1970, obtained Doctor of Law at the Institute of Sociology and Anthropology of Peking University in 2004. He now serves as Vice Professor at the Center for Tibetan Studies of Sichuan University, and Chairman of the Institute of Anthropology of Sichuan University. His research mainly focuses on Tibetan anthropology, involving relationship, historical anthropology and academic history. He has conducted long-term field research in the suburbs of Lhasa, Ganzi of Sichuan, and Nepal. Currently he is involved in the study of academic history of “China” constructed by Europe-Western, and pondering the issue “What is China”. He has published the theses including The Making of China out of Zhongguo (2016).
