LUO Manling was born in 1972. She is an associate professor of the Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Indiana University. She received her bachelor (1995) and master (1998) degree from the Department of Chinese Language and Literature at Peking University. In 2005, she received her doctorate from Washington University. She is a core member of the Medieval Studies Institute at Indiana University. She also served as an assistant professor of the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures at Indiana University, the Department of Foreign Languages and Cultures at Washington University and the Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Rhodes College. Her publications include Literati Storytelling in Late Medieval China (monograph, 2015) and Gender, Genre, and Discourse: The Woman Avenger in Medieval Chinese Texts (article, 2014).
