Hu Cheng is a professor emeritus at Nanjing University School of History. He received his PhD from Nanjing University in 1998. In the past two decades, he has focused on global and transnational history, cultural and academic exchanges between China and the United States, and theoretical research in history. He is the author of Medicine, Hygiene, and China in the World: A Transnational and Transcultural History Study (2014). He has published a number of papers on major academic journals, including Historical Review, and Modern Chinese History Studies.
