Zhang Zhen is a research librarian at the College of Arts and Archaeology, Zhejiang University. He specializes in the study of Chinese painting and calligraphy history, as well as the history of art collection. He obtained his Doctor of Fine Arts degree from the Central Academy of Fine Arts in 2012. From August 2004 to January 2020, he worked at the Painting and Calligraphy Department of the Palace Museum, where he curated several thematic exhibitions. He emphasizes the integration of art collection knowledge and sociological methods in art history research. He has served as the chief editor and contributor to over ten catalogues and has published a monograph titled The "Yin Hua Ming Shi" and the Qianlong Imperial Collection (《“因画名室”与乾隆内府鉴藏》).
