LI Fangchun received his B.A. in Archaeology, M.A. in Sociology at the Peking University and his doctoral degree in History at the University of California, Los Angeles. He has taught at Occidental College and University of Tennessee, Knoxville. He now serves as the Vice director and Associate Professor (“Hundred Talents Program”) at the Institute for Advanced Studies in the Humanities and Social Sciences of Chongqing University, and Chairman of the Center of Studies on the People’s Republic of China at Chongqing University. Recently he is engaged in revolutionary history of PRC, with a special focus on the re-interpretation of Chinese revolutionary modernity through the perspective of history of civilization. His publications include articles on journals including Modern China, Rural China, Open Times and Modern Chinese History Studies.
