Maurizio Viroli is Professor of Politics at Princeton University (Emeritus), Professor of Political Communication, University of Italian Switzerland (Lugano), Professor of Politics, University of Texas, Austin. He has served as consultant for the President of the Republic under President Carlo Azeglio Ciampi’s tenure (1999-2006). He has been awarded the title of Ufficiale della Repubblica for his contribution to Italian culture. He has edited and written the Introduction of Niccolò Machiavelli, The Prince, Oxford, Oxford University Press, Transl. by Peter Bondanella (2005). With Gisela Bock and Quentin Skinner, he is the editorof Machiavelli and Republicanism (Cambridge: Cambridge University Press, 1990).
