Michael John Rowlands was born in 1944. He obtained his doctorate in Anthropology from University of London in 1972. He became lecturer in Anthropology, University College London in 1973, after that he became professor of Anthropology and Material Culture, UCL. In 2013, he became the co-director of Centre for Research in the Dynamics of Civilisation, UCL. His research mainly focus on the study of cultural heritage and material culture, museology, temporalities and cilivilisations. His representative works include: Long Term Cosmological Interconnections and Long Distance Trade: Cosmology and Comparative Advantage in the Bronze Age and Beyond(2016); Conflict and Heritage Care in Anthropology Today(2007); Handbook of Material Culture(2006).
