CHEN Shaoming is a professor of the Department of Philosophy at Sun Yat-sen University. His research focuses on Chinese Philosophy, the hermeneutic traditions in Chinese classics and the methodology of Humanities. He is the author of several books including ‘Discussion on Making All Things Equal’ and Its Influence (2004) and Chinese Philosophy: Reflections on the Methodology of Chinese Philosophical Research (2015). 

He served as Vice President of the Chinese Confucian Academy and held research fellowships and visiting positions at Harvard-Yenching Institute, The Chinese University of Hong Kong, Taiwan National University, Yuelu Academy (Hunan University) and Peking University. And in 2015 he received from the Ministry of Education the national honor of Yangtze Scholar (Changjiang xuezhe).
