YU Yunguo is a professor at Shanghai Normal University, a director of the China Song History Research Association, and a member of the editorial board of Knowledge of Literature and History. He was the deputy director and the director of the Chinese Classics Research Institute, Shanghai Normal University. He graduated from the Department of History of Shanghai Normal University in 1982 and started to teach there. He received M.A. in ancient Chinese history in 1988. From 1993 to 1994, he was a visiting scholar at the Faculty of Arts and Sciences of Japan University in Tokyo, Japan.

He is mainly engaged in the study of Song dynasty history, classics and modern academic culture. His publication includes Emperor Gaozong of Song and Hist Era, Seeking Song Dynasty from Water Margin, and Detailed Introduction of Song Dynasty. He also co-edited The Chronicle of Dr. Chung-un Lee.
