        SUN Chengsheng    

                SUN Chengsheng is a research fellow at the Institute for the History of Natural Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences. He received his PhD from the Institute for the History of Natural Science, Chinese Academy of Sciences in 2005. He mainly focus on the history of Chinese and Western scientific exchanges from the Ming and Qing dynasties to the Republic of China, with particular attention to the spread of Western natural philosophy and scientific instruments in China during the Ming and Qing dynasties, as well as the scientific research activities of Western scholars in China during the late Qing and Republic of China. In 2011, he was awarded the ZHU Kezhen Young Scholar Award by the International Society for the History of East Asian Science, Technology and Medicine (ISHEASTM). He is currently an Associate Editor of Studies in the History of Natural Sciences and Secretary of the ISHEASTM. He is the author of The Interweaving of Ideas: The Spread of Western Natural Philosophy in China during the Ming and Qing Dynasties (Guangdong People's Publishing House, 2018) and several other monographs.
