XIAO Ying is a Professor at the School of Sociology and Political Science, Shanghai University. He obtained his Ph.D. at the Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences in 2004, and was appointed as visiting scholar at the Center for Cultural Sociology of Yale University in 2013. Now he serves as Executive Editor of Sociology, and Director of the Department of Sociology at the School of Sociology and Political Science. His researches mainly focus on social theory, risk society, and political philosophy.
