CHEN Ruixuan received his B.A. in Chinese Literature and Linguistics from Fudan University in 2009, his M.A. in Indology from the University of Munich in 2014, and his Ph.D. in Buddhism from Leiden University in 2018. In 2020, he was awarded the Ernst-Waldschmidt-Preis in the area of German Indology study. His main research interests are about the history of Buddhism in India and the West, and Buddhist literature. He is the author of a monograph entitled The Nandimitrāvadāna: A Living Text from the Buddhist Tradition, which focus on dealing with the cardinal classic work to the study of the Lohan faith: The Nandimitrāvadāna, and has published more than ten papers in Indo-Iranian Journal, Central Asiatic Journal, ZDMG and other journals.
