XU Jianwei was born in 1976 in Dongying, Shandong Province. He is an associate professor and the associate dean of School of Liberral Arts at Renmin University of China, and the executive director of International Center for the Study of Ancient Text Cultures. He graduated from School of Literature at Shandong University and attended Department of Literature of Graduate School of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences. He obtained his PhD degree of literature from School of Chinese Classics at Peking University in 2008. He has been engaged in researches on Warring States, Qin and Han Dynasties, focusing on early texts, academic history and intellectual history. He is also interested in the changing and producing of texts in Han-Tang and Tang-Song periods.
