Aydar Mirkamal is a professor in the School of Chinese Language and Literature, Xinjiang University. He mainly studies the documents from Dunhuang and Turpan, and has hosted one key project and two general projects of the National Social Science Foundation, as well as two projects from the Ministry of Education. He received a Ph.D in Literature from Xinjiang University, after which he became a postdoctoral researcher at the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science. He is the author of Alliterative Verse Commentaries in Old Uyghur and Newly Unearthed Verses from Dunhuang. He has published more than 50 articles in Minority Languages of China, Acta Orientalia Hung., Central Asiatic Journal, and 内陸アジア言語の研究, etc.
