Eric Foner is a
DeWitt Clinton Professor of History at Columbia University, an Elected Member
of American Academy of Arts and Sciences, and an Elected Corresponding Fellow
of British Academy. He specializes in the Civil War and Reconstruction, African
American biography, slavery, and American political history. He has served as
the President of Organization of American Historians (1993), the President of
American Historical Association (2000), and the President of Society of
American Historians (2006).
