On the morning of September 1, a transition and handover meeting was held at IHSS, presided over by PKU Vice President Wang Bo, Director Jiang Shigong from PKU Office of Humanities and Social Sciences, and Vice Director Huang Junping from PKU Academic Affairs Office. In the afternoon, members of both leadership teams attended the welcome session for the new cohort of visiting fellows.
Over the past seven years since its establishment, Professor Deng Xiaonan, the founding director of IHSS, and Professor Qu Jingdong, the Executive Vice Director, have created a novel academic and intellectual framework, laying a solid foundation for the future development of IHSS. As their terms come to an end, the university has made new appointments for the IHSS leadership team:
Professor Yang Lihua from the Department of Philosophy has been appointed as the new Director of IHSS.
Associate Professor Duan Demin from the School of Government, Associate Professor Yan Tian from Law School, have been appointed as Vice Directors.
IHSS Executive Vice Director Yang Hongbo has been appointed as Vice Director.
Assistant to the Director Han Xiao will continue to serve his position.
As we embark on this new chapter, IHSS anticipates the dynamic contributions of our reinvigorated team. Under the guidance of Director Yang Lihua and the leadership team, we are poised for continued excellence and innovation in the field of humanities and social sciences. Their vision and expertise will enhance our strengths and guide IHSS toward new horizons, all while preserving the foundational principles that have made us a “human-centric” institution. We look forward to the exciting and transformative journey ahead, as we continue to promote interdisciplinary research and international cooperation.
